What was your initial medical issue?

I had numbness from my shoulders to my fingers, neck stiffness, and a lot of pain. Moving my neck was challenging and I had significantly reduced range of motion. I was also having a spastic reaction in my hands where I would unintentionally drop stuff. I believe that these issues stemmed from a couple of car accidents that I was involved in years ago.

What did these issues prevent you from doing?

I had to be more careful with everyday activities. I stopped running and exercising due to the pain.

What made you decide to do something about your problem?

I was out with friends last year and my doctor friend noticed some of my symptoms and recommended I get them checked out.

Why did you choose Dr. Chang?

I saw 4 neurosurgeons in my area of Tampa, Florida who all wanted to do an extremely invasive procedure. I knew there had to be a better option so I did some online research and found Dr. Chang.

What treatment/procedure did you have done?

Cervical Anterior Total Disc Replacement.

How did you feel after treatment?

I had my voice back immediately after surgery. For the first time in my life, I didn’t have any reaction to the anesthesia. I had a little soreness right after I woke up, but other than that all my old symptoms and pain are all gone. I got to leave the day of my procedure. I haven’t taken a single pain med since I walked out of the hospital. I’m only 3 months out and my incision is healing nicely.

What advice would you give other patients in a similar situation to you?

I think the world of Dr. Chang. The Hospital and care staff were all excellent as well. A+ service from everyone!
