Pediatric neurovascular surgery is surgery performed on a child and used to treat problems with the blood vessels in the brain, spine, and/or spinal cord. These procedures can be open (craniotomy) or minimally invasive. A doctor who performs these operations is called a neurovascular surgeon. Some examples of neurovascular surgery include aneurysm clipping or coiling, carotid artery angioplasty and stenting, carotid endarterectomy, cavernous malformation surgery, cerebrovascular neurosurgery, embolization, hemangioblastoma surgery, intracerebral hemorrhage repair, or arteriovenous malformation surgery.
