A craniotomy for arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) is a surgical treatment that removes or treats aberrant blood vessel tangles in the brain, also known as arteriovenous malformations. AVMs are congenital anomalies in which arteries and veins are directly joined rather than via the regular capillary network. This can disrupt blood flow and increase the danger of bleeding or rupture, potentially resulting in neurological impairments or lifethreatening hemorrhages.
