Craniofacial surgery is surgery involving the skull and/or face. This approach can be used in order to access some skull base tumors. Access points into the skull may include entering through the nose, mouth, or near the eyebrow. Once the skull base tumor is accessed, it is removed surgically. If it is not able to be completely removed, the surgeon will remove as much of it as they can without damaging surrounding healthy tissue. If needed, chemotherapy or radiation may be used after surgery as well.
